The London (EGTT) and Scottish (EGPX) Flight Information Regions cover the airspace over England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our area sectors cover enroute traffic flying into, out of and within UK airspace, as well as top-down services where Tower and Approach units are not online. In order to maximize our efficiency in handling traffic, the London Control sectors we use are split in a very specific way. Although the splits may seem daunting at first, they are actually very easy to understand if you take a few minutes to digest the information below. The main sectors (North, South, Central & West) are shown in the diagram below. These sectors are able to be split further during high traffic situations, and these splits are summarised on this page.
The image below gives an overview of the full London Control sectors.

If there are no aerodrome or approach services at your departure aerodrome, use this list to determine which area sector to call. You should contact the first controller in the list that you see online. LON_SC_CTR covers both South & Central sectors, and LON_CTR covers all London sectors. If in doubt, don't be afraid to ask. The controllers don't bite! Another good place to check is the controller information, where information is usually displayed as to which areas the controller is covering.

All London sectors use the voice callsign "London Control". All Manchester sectors use the voice callsign "Scottish Control".
* Please note that for the purposes of shift change efficiency, South & Central can sometimes be logged in with the callsign LON_CS_CTR.
** These are the core frequencies you are most likely to see online on an average night. The areas which the core sectors cover can be seen on the diagram at the top of this page.
Just as the other area sectors are, London North is able to split into smaller pieces to handle higher traffic levels. These splits are unique in that they log in as MAN_x_CTR and use the voice callsign "Scottish Control", even though they sit underneath a "London Control" sector. Scottish Control (Manchester) can be opened as a single sector (either East or West) or both sides can be opened by the same controller (bandboxed). When opened, the Manchester sectors are responsible for their underlying aerodromes.
