VATSIM-UK and VATFrance are excited to announce their next big VFR event on Wednesday 6th June 2012 from 18:00 - 21:00z.
After the success of the last VFR cross the channel event in December this event will be in commemoration of D-Day.
On the UK side Shoreham (EGKA) and Southampton(EGHI) will be staffed while Caen(LFRK) and Deauville(LFRG) will be open in France.
Why not join with your friends and take a VFR trip across the channel, enjoying full ATC and busy skies. We look forward to seeing you on the 6th of June.
Vatsim-uk and the South East RTS are excited to announce "Gatwick Surprize Night" on Saturday the 9th June 2012 from 18:30 - 20:00z. Gatwick will be fully staffed and thanks to Just Flight, two lucky pilots will win a piece of software of their choice.
The arrival which lands in the first third and a departure in the final third is selected for the prize based on runway time, so arrive and depart during the time window to maximize your chance of being selected for a prize!
Once again we must thank Just Flight for very kindly donating these prizes, their website can be found here: http://www.justflight.com/
On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of June 2012, Birmingham Airport (EGBB) will host it's 6th annual Mid Summer Madness Event. Birmingham Airport will be fully staffed from 1000z - 1900z on both days, from Birmingham Delivery right up to London Control.
Saturday 16th of June will see EGBB host a Real-Ops event. All the real world flights into and out of EGBB between 1000z-1900z on a recent Saturday can be booked. A diverse range of flights are available to book, from short hops to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eire, to the slightly longer Charter flights to popular holiday destinations.
The next day, on Sunday 17th of June, EGBB will host a 'Not-so-Real-Ops event! What's Not-so-Real I hear you ask? Well, the flights did happen, the callsigns are real and the off-blocks times are correct, it's just that the flights, real world, flew into and out of a different airport! (Gatwick to be precise!) An interesting way to spice things up and a way of seeing different aircraft types and routes at Birmingham.
All pilots are cordially invited to take part. You'll see there's hundreds of flights to choose from. Please help us celebrate the 6th anniversary of this fantastic event by flying in and out of Birmingham - the skies are guaranteed to be busy around EGBB on the 16th and 17th of June!
If you can't find a route you'd like to fly, then non-event traffic is also more than welcome. Similarly, if you don't have the aircraft type for your booking, you can fly your route in any aircraft you like.
The transition altitude at EGBB is 6000 feet. The initial climb on all SIDs at EGBB is 6000 feet. There will be a continuous voice and text ATIS for EGBB; please report the information you have on board upon initial contact with an EGBB controller.
Freeware scenery for FS9/FSX is available from flightsim.com.
Most of your controllers and a few of your fellow pilots will also be sat in the same room, and perhaps enjoying a beer or two! We really hope you can help us make this the best Mid Summer Madness event yet!
